Homage to Bausch

3-channel, 15-minute durational video, sound, and glass installation, 150m2

Homage to Bausch takes Pina Bausch’s seminal Bluebeard as a departure point to examine how women negotiate power, desire and survival within intimate relationships. Through an intensely emotional, psychological and physical exchange between a mature woman and man, the work exposes the emotional labour women perform to hold unstable structures together. Ladders and ropes function as charged symbols of ascent and fall, rescue and confinement, tracing the fine line between support and control.

Three monumental curved pâte de verre suspended glass structures act as both armour and barrier—translucent shields that protect, deflect and yet also isolate. A 3-channel moving image narrative with original soundscape plays out in a 15-minute durational loop across the towering glass forms, fracturing and magnifying the viewer’s experience of the performance. In this unsettled field, female strength is not romanticised; it is shown as hard‑won, contingent and repeatedly tested, insisting that viewers confront the persistent inequalities embedded in love itself.
