‘Within Matter #2’ acquired by the Corning Museum of Glass in New York for their permanent collection

In 2019 ‘Within Matter #2 was selected for New Glass Now a major international survey of contemporary art and design made in glass. Curated by The Corning Museum of Glass in Corning New York USA, it represented the first of its kind in 40 years. It was an absolutely incredible honour to be a part of this magnificent show.

So, you can just imagine how delighted I was when the Board at the Corning Museum approached me with a view to acquiring ‘Within Matter #2’ for their permanent collection. With the generosity of benefactors Jim Flaws and Marcia Weber, the Board was able to purchase the work for their collection.

I had the honour of meeting both Jim and Marcia whilst in Corning and I was humbled by their commitment to both the development of the museum, as well as to the advancement of contemporary glass globally. I am very grateful for their support which ultimately allowed ‘Within Matter #2’ to go to such a great home.

There is also an annual publication titled ‘Notable Acquisitions’ that the museum produces to profile some of their key acquisitions each year. Again, to see ‘Within Matter #2’ on the cover of their 2019 publication left me speechless. The cover of this publication had forever been the domain of my absolute heroes. So, it was very meaningful to me personally that after many years of commitment to my practice, that my work could be considered worthy of this prestigious acknowledgment.
